Alchemilla (Lady's Mantle) mollis (Lady’s Mantle)

Low growing perennial for shady areas. It produces a clump of upright, long stalked, grayish leaves with scalloped edges. Prefers well drained, moist soils. Cut back if the plant becomes scraggly after flowering. Loose flower heads are excellent for flower arranging.

Compact, upright clump of glossy green, thick leaves.   Foliage has a slight smell of onion when crushed.  Large 2”, bright rosy purple, tightly rounded clusters of flowers appear on strong stems just above the attractive foliage.  Attracts butterflies and bees, but is deer and rabbit resistant.

Longer blooming variety than the straight species. Forms a dense, compact mound of narrow, willow-like dark green leaves that turn brilliant yellow in the fall. Pyramidal clusters of very dark lavender blue, star-like flowers. Very easy to grow. Hardy and drought tolerant once established. Most effective when massed.

Aster (Aster) novi-belgii 'Wood's Pink' (Wood’s Pink Aster)

Densely packed clusters of lovely clear pink, semi-double flowers provide outstanding color in the garden from late summer into fall. Since this species has a dwarf, compact habit, it will not require staking. ‘Wood’s’ selections have shown excellent resistance to mildew and rust.

Astilbe (Astilbe) chinensis 'Maggie Daley' (Maggie Daley Chinese Astilbe)

Clump forming . Showy spikes of bright lavender pink blooms in mid late summer. Bronze tinted new growth turning dark green with maturity. Lacy, fern-like foliage. More drought tolerant than the species once established. Excellent for naturalistic plantings in wooded areas.

Astilbe (Astilbe) chinensis 'Visions in Red' (Visions in Red Chinese Astilbe)

Tall feathery blooms of reddish-purple above deep bronze-green foliage.  Foliage is deeply incised, coarsely textured, and often bronze-green in color.  This more heat and drought tolerant selection thrives in dappled shade. Valued for their airy quality as the flowers are borne on narrow, branched panicles.  Excellent for cutting.  Seed heads add interest to the winter garden. Great in massed plantings.

Distinctive silvery white, broad, heart shaped leaves etched with light green veins, creating dramatic ceramic like patterns. Sky blue forget-me-not like flowers. An outstanding plant for the late summer to fall garden. Airy masses of dainty lavender and white flowers from August until frost. Soft medium green leaves that have a mint fragrance when crushed. Also commonly called Threadleaf or Whorled Coreopsis. Typically grows in dense bushy clumps. Bright yellow 1-2″ daisy-like flowers with darker yellow center disks from late spring to late summer. Shearing plants in early August will encourage a fall rebloom. Excellent for borders, naturalized or cottage gardens.
