A thornless variety. Rounded, spreading form. Medium texture. Leathery, glossy, deep-green foliage. Orange-scarlet fall color. Horizontally branched with gray bark. Leaves are glossy, heavy and very thick. Provides excellent deciduous screening. Does best in full sun.

Rounded upright form. Medium texture. Glossy, deep-green foliage. Scarlet-orange fall color. Disease & insect resistant. Persistent .25″ bright red, glossy berries. Dense, thorny, upright growth takes shearing well. Sensitive to salt. Profuse clusters of white flowers in mid-June. Very adaptable.

Crataegus (Hawthorn) viridis 'Winter King' (Winter King Hawthorn)

Very dense and thorny, it makes a great hedge, mass planting or specimen. Clusters of white flowers in mid-spring contrast nicely against lustrous, dark green leaves. fall color is gold, with traces of red and purple. Exfoliating bark provides excellent winter interest. Relatively disease free. Large 1/2″, persistent red fruit in fall. Tolerates most soil types and city pollution.
