Sporobulus (Dropseed) heterolepis (Prairie Dropseed)
Native prairie grass which forms arching clumps. Fine textured, hair-like, medium green leaves turn golden with orange hues in the fall. Open, branching flowers (with pink and brown tints) on slender stems appear in August. They have unique fragrance (hints of coriander). Extremely drought tolerant. Very slow growing. A good groundcover for hot, dry areas, as well as prairies, meadows and native plant gardens.
