Hydrangea (Hydrangea) anomala petiolaris (Climbing Hydrangea)

Excellent clinging vine for covering stone walls, arbors, trees, etc. Needs some sort of support. Gloss, dark green leaves. Flattened clusters of fragrant, white, lace-cap configured flowers in late spring to early summer. Best grown in well-drained soil in part shade to full shade. Slow to establish, but quite vigorous thereafter.

Hydrangea (Hydrangea) quercifolia 'Snow Queen' (Snow Queen Oakleaf Hydrangea)

Upright shrub with broad, rounded habit. Conical clusters of white flowers from late spring through much of the summer, which slowly turn pinkish with age. Oak-like, deep green leaves turn beautiful shades of bronze, maroon and purple in the fall. Best grown in well drained soil in full sun/part shade.

Blooms on old wood. Prune as needed after flowering. Easily grown in well drained soils, but place in a sheltered location with winter protection. Large, arching flower panicles in June through July, which gradually fade to pink, and then brown by late summer. Oak-like leave turn shades of bronze, maroon and purple in fall.
