Hamamelis (Witchhazel) vernalis (Vernal Witchhazel)

Multistemmed, rounded spreading form. Medium texture. Compact growth habit. Neat appearance. Good selection for some late winter interest, as it has fragrant, yellow-red blooms which appear in March. Can handle gravel sites or poorly drained clay soils. Consistent yellow fall color is very long lasting. Tough, durable plant.

Hamamelis (Witchhazel) virginiana (Common Witchazel)

Native plant, and the most cold hardy of all witchhazels. Dark green glossy leaves which turn bright yellow in the fall. 1″ fragrant, creamy to bright yellow, spider-like flowers in the fall. Slow growing, multistemmed, round, open spreading habit with irregular branching. Excellent for naturalized areas, shady areas, and the fall color.
